Sitagliptin, Uses, Side Effects and Type 2 Diabetes

Sitagliptin

Sitagliptin phosphate with brand leader JANUVIA is an orally-active inhibitor of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) Enzyme. It is being used for the indication of conditions like type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains an empirical formula of C16H15F6N5O.H3P04.H2O. Sitagliptin is combined with metformin to control glucose levels in our bodies.

Sitagliptin actually increases incretins. Incretin’s main function is to control blood sugar and also it increases insulin in our body when we take meals. On the other side, it also decreases the sugar your liver makes after the meal. Therefore, always check your glucose level before meals. There is a sugar level test called glycated hemoglobin (A1C) that shows how much sugar (glucose) exists in your body in the past 2 months.
