Sita-Met is produced by CCL Pharmaceuticals. It contains Sitagliptin plus Metformin HCL. It is being used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It slowdowns inactivation of incretin hormones and these hormones include glucagon-like peptide 1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP, which is released by the intestine. The increase in these hormones is rapidly inactivated by the enzyme DPP-4.
Excessive insulin is being released from the pancreatic beta cells. Sitagliptin actually increases insulin release and reduces glucagon levels.
While Metformin HCL lowers both basal and postprandial plasma glucose. It also decreases hepatic glucose production and reduces intestinal absorption of glucose.
The main function of Metformin is to control high blood sugar. High blood sugar causes kidney damage; nerve problems and it also causes blindness. High blood sugar level also causes sexual weakness. Therefore it is essential to use Metformin to prevent such kinds of diseases. Metformin actually decreases the sugar level in the liver.
Indications, signs, and symptoms of type 2 diabetes
Sita-Met is being used for only type 2 diabetes mellitus; therefore do not use it for type 1 diabetes mellitus. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas and cells do not work properly and your body is producing more insulin than it requires. This glucose builds in the bloodstream and starts creating problems.
