Lipiget 10,20,40mg, Indication and Side Effects

Lipiget is produced by Getz, which contains Atorvastatin. It is considered a lipid-lowering agent. It inhibits 3-hydroxy, 3methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase the enzymes which are responsible for the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, including cholesterol. The liver is the primary site of action of HMG-CoA. These cholesterol syntheses in the liver lead to the upregulation of LDL receptors, which increases LDL catabolism. Lipiget actually reduces total cholesterol, LDL, and Triglycerides TG and on the other hand, it increases HDL cholesterol, considered as good cholesterol.

Lipiget actually belongs to a group of medicine called Statins. Statins are a group of medicines, which help lower the level of LDL cholesterol in the blood.

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is considered to be bad cholesterol. Cholesterol is a fat-like substance that can be found in the blood and throughout the body. The increase in LDL cholesterol can clog your arteries and it can also lead to heart attacks. Therefore always check your lipid profile.
