Hydryllin Syrup for Chesty Cough and Congestion

Hydryllin syrup is produced by Searle, which contains Aminophylline, Diphenhydramine, Ammonium Chloride, and Menthol. It is being used for the relief of dry cough and chesty cough and congestion, nasal congestion, irritated night cough, and soothes tight and also an effective cough suppressant and expectorant. It will settle a cough and relieve a sore throat while facilitating the healing process.  Minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold help loosen phlegm and thin bronchial secretions to make cough more productive. Hydryllin contains Aminophylline which soothes the throat within 5 minutes.

Compositions

Diphenhydramine: It is an antihistaminic agent, which is being used to treat allergic reactions such as the runny nose, coughing, rashes, and watery eyes, etc. Secondly, it is also being used to treat motion sickness, anaphylactic reaction, antiemetic poisoning, Meniere’s disease, tension, and anxiety, etc.

Aminophylline: It is being used for the indication and treatment of acute severe asthma, obstructive air disease, coughing, sneezing, asthma, etc. Aminophylline is present in theophylline.

Ammonium Chloride: It is an electrolyte and expectorant which is being used to treat cough, urinary retention, alkalosis, and asthma, etc.

Menthol: It is being used to treat common cold-like cold, cough, fever and nasal congestion, sinusitis, insect bites, sunburn urticaria, and bronchitis, etc. It is obtained from alcohol prepared synthetically.

Side Effects

Side effects of Hydryllin include nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth, urinary retention, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, anxiety, insomnia, pain, vomiting, vertigo, abdominal pain, and nervousness, etc.

Precautions

Do not exceed the stated dose, because it may cause drowsiness. In that case, do not drive or operate machinery. Secondly do not use Hydryllin if you are allergic to aminophylline, diphenhydramine, ammonium chloride, and menthol.
