Cremaffin is produced by Abbott, which contains magnesium hydroxide + liquid paraffin. It is being used for chronic constipation, hepatic precoma and painful conditions of the anus and rectum, increase water in the intestines, stomach acid, etc. It is a gentle laxative emulsion, which increases the daily frequency of bowel movements. Cream of magnesium and liquid paraffin has been also added to the syrup.
Compositions
Magnesium Hydroxide: It is an antacid, which neutralizes the gastric acidity and used in the treatment of peptic ulcer, heartburn, acidity, and used in constipation. It increases intestinal activity and causes defecation.
Paraffin: Paraffin is a mixture of solid hydrocarbons, which is obtained from petroleum. It lubricates intestines in our abdomen and helps in constipation.
Side effects
The most common side effects of Cremaffin syrup are abdominal cramps, loose motions, abdominal discomfort, and dizziness. Consult your doctor if you are facing following side effects, loose motions, itching of the skin, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, appetite change.
