Cefalor for throat Pain

Cefalor contains Cefaclor monohydrate U.S.P. It is a cephalosporin antibiotic, which is being used to treat infections caused by bacteria. These infections include upper and lower respiratory tract infection, skin and soft tissue infection, a gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial infection. Normally it is being given to infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, tonsils, UTI, pneumonia, and typhoid.

Cefaclor comes in suspension and as a capsule. It can be taken with or without food within every 8 hours. Cefaclor 250mg and 500mg capsules are usually taken twice within 24 hours for 8-10 days.

Do not use Cefalor for cold, cough, flu and fever, and other viral infections.

Side Effects of Cefaclor

Common side effects: Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Pain in stomach, Headache

Uncommon side effects: Itching and rashes, difficulty in breathing, joint pain, watery stools, fever, and sore throat.

Overdose Effects: Vomiting, stomach, and diarrhea.

Precautions/Warning

Cefalor should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Do not give Cefaclor to pregnant and lactation mothers, because it excretes into breast milk.
